The Story of Our Relentless Pursuit of Healing

After everything we have been through together this past year, I think many will agree that UMass Memorial has an incredible story to share with our local communities, our region and beyond. It’s a story of heroism and a relentless commitment to doing what’s best for our patients and each other. Starting today, we will be sharing the story of our relentless pursuit of healing – what makes us different than other health systems in our region – through a new brand advertising campaign with “Relentless” as its theme. We want all of our region to realize, as we do, that there is no better place to receive high-quality, truly patient- and family-centered care, provided by a dedicated team that’s all in and won’t ever give up – on our patients or each other.

Samples of the campaign can be viewed below. These ads feature many of our caregivers matched with words that describe who we are as an organization, as a community resource, as teams and as individuals. As part of this campaign, we decided to revisit and revise the UMass Memorial Health Care name and logo to better reflect who we are as a system and what we stand for. You’ll see that our brand name is now UMass Memorial Health.
You may be saying to yourself: “Does that mean the system doesn’t care for or about people anymore?” No, it’s the opposite. Here’s why:
  • This change reflects our philosophy to not just care for the patients who are sick who come to our hospital and outpatient locations, but to care for the overall health and well-being of everyone, with the goal of keeping people healthy and improve all aspects of life.
  • It better reflects the work of all of our system entities – not just our hospital and traditional care locations. For example, it better reflects the work of our Community Healthlink colleagues to help those who are experiencing mental illness, addiction or homelessness.
  • The name change demonstrates our Anchor Mission commitment to address aspects of the social environment that can affect the overall physical health of the people we serve, such as food insecurity, homelessness, chronic unemployment and gaps in education (to name a few). The work we do in the community to address these issues goes far beyond taking care of patients in a traditional health care setting, but shows we value the overall health of the communities we serve.

I’m enormously proud of this campaign because it reflects the incredible work of our caregivers and will show the world what I already know to be true – that we have the best teams in this region and beyond.
